Mission
In 2004, sophomore Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook out of his college dorm. In just a matter of months, the 19-year old managed to accomplish a feat never before done in human history: connect the entire world.
22 years later, we now live in an era where that connection has become as easy as clicking a button on a screen. In our ultraconnected modern society, anybody and everybody is fair game.
This all started with the goal of making connecting with other humans easier.
The problem is that it worked…a little too well. Now, connection has become almost meaningless—reduced to a number and a mutual on a profile page. In the endless pursuit of getting our foot into the metaphorical door of status by holding onto others’ coattails, we’ve completely devalued the meaning of digital connection.
tagme was founded on the basic anthropological principle that real connection requires physicality. We use photos to build your network based on who is physically present in your proximity, so each connection has real-world value and dimension. Our mission statement can be summed up into three simple axioms of aiming:
When you use tagme, you’re the focus. That’s what the little green frames around your face mean, but it’s also what our entire user experience exists to centralize. The only people you’ll interact with on tagme are people you’ve actually met in person, and the only groups you’ll be in are the ones you want to join.
As photographers, we understand the struggle of getting your photos off your camera and into your friends’ photo galleries. At tagme, we know that a half-dozen group chats, even if you have everyone’s phone numbers, are not the right way to share your art. We made a place where, after a simple WiFi upload of your best work straight off your camera, you can sit back and let us do the rest, freeing up your time to focus on the fundamentals.
tagme is entirely free of distractions. Inspired by technology’s true purpose to uplift humans, rather than offer an escape, we are committed to keeping tagme a place where your best moments, captured in-person with your friends are highlighted, and anything else can be left at the door.
