What data is sent

When you add a photo of yourself, and when photos are uploaded to your groups, tagme sends those images to a third-party facial recognition service. From each image the service derives a numeric "face geometry" vector — a mathematical representation of your facial features. We do not send your name, email, or contact details to this service.

Who it is sent to

The service is Amazon Rekognition, operated by Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), in the United States. AWS processes this data only on tagme's behalf as a data processor, does not use it to train its own models, and is contractually required to protect it to the standard described in our Privacy Policy.

Why it is used

Your face geometry is compared against faces in photos uploaded to your groups so you can be tagged automatically. Tag suggestions are never confirmed without your approval.

Who can auto-tag you

You are only auto-tagged by people within your own network on tagme — members of groups you have joined, and users who follow you. You are never auto-tagged by the general public or by all tagme users, so you retain control over who can identify you.

Your consent

No face data is sent to Amazon Web Services until you check the consent box and create your account. If you don't consent, choose "Skip for now" — you can still use tagme, but automatic face tagging will be unavailable.

Retention & deletion

Your face geometry vector is kept while your account exists and is deleted from Amazon Web Services within 30 days of account deletion. You can also request deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].
